Capers from the Last Two Weeks

Sat, 06/05/2010 - 22:40 |  aphillips

Recently:
Out in the backyard all the kids will suddenly decide it is time to go pee. The boys stand on the edge of the grass, sending their arcs off into the distance. Chelsea, not to undone, removes her undies and sits in the grass, and pees in the grass.

Today:

Daddy made pancakes for breakfast! All the kids love their “panqueques” with lots of syrup, and daddy makes them fluffy with strawberry wine in the pancake mix and uses the hand mixer. Zachary finishes them up, and then licks the luscious syrup off of the plate. Yum, yum!

Chelsea changed her clothes…how many times today? Three? Four? “’Jado, Mommy, ‘Jado”, she says if she gets her clothes a little wet. (‘Jado is short for “mojado” which means wet.)

Zachary put a blue dress on and he and Mommy danced to the music from the keyboard. Mommy showed Zachary how to do a pirouette, and Zachary was imitating as best he could. We’ll give him some time yet to figure it out. Daddy said, “Well, male ballet dancers are ripped.” Yes, let’s emphasize how strong male ballet dancers are.

We all wrestled with daddy on the big bean bag today. Daddy’s a good wrestler – he did it in high school. Christopher hated being pinned; he fussed and moaned, and had to be let go. We had to reassure him that it was just a game.

Zachary’s favorite jammies are his “wee-hee-oh” (superhero) pajamas. He’d wear them every night if he could.

The boys’ favorite movie right now is the animated: Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

All three kids spent much of the afternoon watching Simpsons with Daddy in Mommy & Daddy’s bed.

Christopher and Zachary spent time working on learning how to cut paper today…now, if only Mommy could get them to pick up their paper trails.

Christopher helped Mommy set the table for dinner and both boys helped Mommy put the cabbage and cut up sausage in the boiling water for lunch.

Chelsea refused to eat lunch; she was told if she asked for food later she would get lunch presented to her again. An hour or so later she came asking for “’Titas!” (“frutitas” the Spanish word I use for Craisins, because I could find no Spanish word for cranberry.) Mommy gave her the two pieces of sausage she refused at lunch time, and she was delighted and happily headed off to eat them.

Last Weekend - We had a puzzle-day! Christopher wanted puzzle after puzzle! He and Mommy put together the sea mammals puzzle and dogs puzzle and horse puzzle -- they were challenging, but the more we did it, the better Christopher got. We put together the Thomas the Train puzzle, which was a regular puzzle without borders! All the kids enjoy puzzle building, but Christopher especially delights in it.

This time of year -- we get roly polies that creep into the house. The kids find them, and bend over, staring at them, prodding them with things to see what they will do. Until...SQUISH! "It's broken!". Yes, that would be right.

Chelsea asked for a piece of bread. A few minutes later she got Mommy’s attention, and had one hand pressed behind the piece of bread, with fingers breaking through it. “Hand coming; hand coming!" she said.

We all got flowers from the garden outside. Chris took the petals off of one! “Da flower da broken” he said. Zachary accidentally left his flower outside when Mommy shooed everyone inside! He pined for it! Mommy had to go out, find it on the walk, and hurry it back in to Zachary.

The school class celebrated the boys’ birthday this day. They returned from school on the bus with birthday crowns on their heads. Mommy & Chelsea were out to meet the bus and, Mommy, Mommy, oh how Chelsea wanted a crown too!!!! Mommy found colored paper, scissors, and the stapler, and soon Chelsea had a crown of her own that she wore proudly along with her brothers.
