Christopher's first piano recital!

Zachary and Mommy went to Home Depot. Zachary was dressed in his Woody costume from Toy Story. He needed to use the restroom, so we both went into the women's restroom. Zac went to a stall and locked the door. He seemed to be having some trouble. I asked through the stall door if he needed assistance, and he opened it. The costume tied in the back, and he needed help getting it off! Once it was untied, he was pretty much able to get the rest on his own, and then proceeded to leave the restroom. I was a little perplexed, "Didn't you need to go potty, Zac?" However, he had decided to leave. He saw the Men's restroom, and wanted to go in there. "That's fine, Zac, but I'm not going in there with you." He was not bothered, and off he went into the men's room. A few minutes later, he was pulling the heavy door open to come out. "Did you wash your hands, Zac?" His eyes lit up -- oh, he'd forgotten. He headed back in to do that, and was trying to scramble back up to the counter. I sighed. A gentleman had gone in there, and I heard a brief conversation between them as he offered to help Zac get down off of the counter after washing his hands. Soon, out came Zac. "I wash da hand," he said. In this trip he also opened the doors of every refrigerator in the showroom, and found an ice cream bar in the freezer of one of them! It probably belonged to an employee, so we left it there.

Today was the very first time I got to go to the school to pick up a sick child. Poor Christopher! He just didn't want to wake up this morning, but I rubbed his back and Paul called out to him, and he startled and woke. I dressed him and asked him how he felt -- did his head hurt? His tummy hurt? He said no, but seemed so sleepy. We wake the kids 15 minutes before the bus comes at 6:45. I carried him out to the schoolbus. (They get breakfast at school.) I was on the phone with a doctor's office in Globe, supporting them, and suddenly my cellphone was ringing off the hook. I vowed to figure it out as soon as I got off of the call...the doorbell rang and it was the neighbor letting me know that the school had called and Christopher was throwing up! I got off the phone call shortly, demanded Chelsea put some clothes on, and headed off to the school. We went into the office, and then went over to the health office. There was poor Christopher, so quiet, with soulful eyes. I picked him up, signed him out in two places and carried him to the car. As I put him in the carseat and buckled him in, he gave me this contented smile. He was so glad to be going home.
Chelsea took her little purse to the gym on Sunday. Inside were two play hot pads and a pink phone.

Christopher went with Mommy to her recital for her students. He stood at Mommy's side, sat on her lap, or on a chair, close by. He had been playing Mary Had a Little Lamb for over a year, and even played it for some of Mommy's students once before. Mommy had drawn the bass & treble clefs on his hands, and marked his fingernails with the correct colors. Once all of the other students had played, Mommy got down on Christopher's level, "Do you want to play Mary Had a Little Lamb?" Christopher gave a little nod. Yes. So Mommy took him by the hand, in front of all of the people in the Briggs' living room.
"This is Christopher and he is going to play Mary Had a Little Lamb." Mommy led him by the hand to the back of the room where the keyboard was, and set him on the chair just right. She reminded him that this song was treble hand only, and pointed to the first note. And we were off! Christopher was playing the song, one note at a time. Once it was done, the people clapped, and Mommy brought him to the front of the room to bow. He was awesome!
